Overview

Policymakr, Inc. (“Policymakr”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information (i.e. any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person) who visit the https://www.policymakr.com website and any Policymakr mobile software application (collectively, the “Site”) and use the services available thereon (the “Services”). Amendments to this Privacy Policy will be posted to the Site and/or Services and will be effective when posted. Your continued use of the Site and/or Services following the posting of any amendment to this Privacy Policy shall constitute your acceptance of such amendment.

Consent and Information Collection and Use

When you register as a user of our Site and Services, we ask for personal information that will be used to activate your account, provide the Services to you, communicate with you about the status of your account, and for other purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. Your name, company name, address, telephone number, email address, credit card information and certain other information about you may be required by us to provide the Services or be disclosed by you during your use of the Services. For the purposes of billing your account (if you have a paid account) and in order to process payments, Policymakr utilizes third party payment gateways, such as Stripe and Paypal, who will utilize your credit card and other payment information in accordance with their respective privacy policies. Policymakr shall not be liable to you or any other person for any damages that might result from unauthorized use, publication, disclosure or any other misuse of such payment information, including credit card information. When we disclose your personal information to third parties, we take reasonable measures to ensure that the rules set forth in this Privacy Policy are complied with and these third parties provide sufficient guarantees to implement appropriate technical and organizational measures. Your personal information may be stored and processed in any country where we have facilities or in which we engage third party service providers. By using the Services, you consent to the transfer of information to countries outside your country of residence, which may have different data protection rules than in your country. While such information is outside of United States, it is subject to the laws of the country in which it is held, and may be subject to disclosure to the governments, courts or law enforcement or regulatory agencies of such other country, pursuant to the laws of such country. Owing to the nature of Policymakr’s activity, only individuals old enough to be entitled to vote in the country of their nationality may open accounts with us. Rights to Your Information

Your California Privacy Rights

California Civil Code Section §1798.83 permits users of the Site and/or Services who are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. To make such a request, please send a message to us with “Request for California Privacy Information” in the subject line or in the body of your message. We will provide the requested information to you in your email address in response.

Aggregated Data

We may also use your personal information to generate Aggregated Data for internal use and for sharing with others on a selective basis. “Aggregated Data” means records which have been stripped of information potentially identifying users, and which have been manipulated or combined to provide generalized, anonymous information. Cookies and Log Files

What are cookies?

Which cookies do we use and why?

Policymakr uses cookies to help Policymakr identify and track visitors, their usage of Policymakr website, and their website access preferences. Session cookies are deleted after closing your browser. They are used for storing temporary data, like the content of your shopping cart. We may use them to enable access to our content. Persistent cookies remain on your computer even after closing your browser. Websites use them to store data, like your username or password, sparing you from having to log in every time you visit a website. Persistent cookies will stay on your computer for days, months, even years. We use persistent cookies to understand habits of our users better and to improve the website according to your needs. This information is anonymous – we cannot see individual user data.

If you have an account and you log in to those parts of the site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data. It expires after one day. Third Parties’ & Interest-Based Ads

We do not control third parties’ collection or use of your information to serve interest-based advertising. However, these third parties may provide you with ways to choose not to have your information collected or used in this way. You can opt out of receiving targeted ads from members of the Network Advertising Initiative (“NAI”) on the NAI’s website.

Change of Ownership or Business Transition

In the event of a change of ownership or other business transition, such as a merger, acquisition or sale of our assets, your information may be transferred in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

Security and Retention

We will strive to prevent unauthorized access to your personal information, however, no data transmission over the Internet, by wireless device or over the air is guaranteed to be 100% secure. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do so, we will send an email to users subscribed to the Company News list. We will also add a site banner alerting users who may not be subscribed. If the change materially effects the treatment of your personal data, and we have your email but you are not subscribed to the Company News list, we will send you an email.
